Ellie Burkes

 Ellie Jane Burkes, age 11, peacefully left us on the morning of January 24th, 2025 in the comfort of her own home with her family. Ellie was born October 30th, 2013 to her parents, Peter & Anita Burkes. Ellie is survived by her siblings Avery, Olivia, Ryan, and Tyler. She is preceded in death by her grandmother Kathryn Tipton Burkes.

Everyone that knew Ellie, knew of the light and joy she brought to this world. Ellie was known for her infectious laugh, the loudest claps, and her boundless love for Mickey Mouse. Born with Trisomy 13, Ellie defied the odds as a miracle who survived well beyond her life expectancy. Every day with her was a cherished gift. Our world will be a little bit dimmer without her light in our lives, as she will be greatly missed by her family, her friends at Cumming Elementary School and everyone else who had the blessing of knowing her. 

A small, private funeral service for family will be held. The family appreciates your understanding and support during this time. 

 A celebration of Ellie’s life will be held at a later date, to be announced. Details will be shared with family and friends as plans are finalized.

 In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Cumming Elementary School in Ellie’s honor. This school, along with its remarkable teachers, staff and students, profoundly touched Ellie and her family’s lives. It is our hope that these donations will bless the lives of other students, continuing the legacy of love and support that Ellie’s family cherished so deeply.
