Emmett Norman Day, age 94 of Cumming, passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2012. Emmett was a deacon and member of Haw Creek Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School. A long time Mason, he was a member of Lafayette Lodge in Cumming. He retired after 42 years of service from Sawnee EMC. He was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Ruby McGinnis Day; parents, John Norman and Pluma Jane Day; brother, Hoyt Day and sister, Dorothy Nichols. Survivors include his children, Gail and Melvin Hunnicutt of Lawrenceville, Janice and Perry Dillard of Cleveland, Johnie and Teresa Day of Johns Creek; grandchildren, Amy Hunnicutt, Angela and Adam Heffernan, Michelle Evans, Adam and Carrie Day, Matt and Katie Day; great grandchildren, Joshua, Jackson, Lucas Heffernan, Andrew Day, Brittany, Courtney, Chance Sisk; sister, Bernice Kennemore of Cumming; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dan and Juanita McGinnis of Cumming, Christine and Everett Taylor of Cumming, Helen McGinnis of Cumming, Imogene McGinnis of Madison and several other relatives survive. Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 23rd at 2:00 pm at Ingram Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Sawnee View Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Ingram Funeral Home on Saturday from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm and Sunday from 1:00 pm till hour of service.
