Emogene (Jeanne) Woodman, age 78 of Cumming, passed away on Friday, November 11, 2016. Born in Chicago on May 3, 1938, Jeanne was given the name Emogene by her grandmother, but preferred the name Jeanne. She graduated valedictorian of her class, got married, and became a mother to her two kids, Jeff and Jodee. In 1970, she moved to Clinton, Illinois, where she made her home for many years. She was a longtime member of the Clinton Presbyterian Church, and spent some time helping the local chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in honor of her daughter, who suffered from the disease. She also worked for many years at Wallace Business Forms in Clinton, Il. An avid card player, she joined her friends to play bridge as often as three times a week and also taught her grandchildren how to play euchre. With her competitive family, Jeanne always ended up as the peacemaker of the family card games, avoiding arguments with her favorite exclamation "Whatever!" or reminding the family that it was just a game. In retirement, Jeanne enjoyed playing golf and travelling to visit various friends and family members, anywhere from New York to Georgia. In recent years, she relocated to Cumming, Georgia to be closer to family, and resided at the Villas at Canterfield. There, she met many new friends and continued to be known for her sweetness and affability. Like many others, she was thrilled when the Cubs finally won the World Series after a lifetime of waiting. Jeanne's loving personality, kindness, and independence will be cherished and remembered by all she knew. She passed away surrounded by her loving family and is preceded in death by her parents, John and Cora Anderson, and her daughter, Jodee Lynn Plemmons. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Nancy Woodman of Cumming; grandchildren Matthew (Cassidi) Woodman of Cumming, Sarah Plemmons of Ball Ground, Jordan Plemmons of Atlanta, Jennifer (Douglas) Saltz of Tampa, FL; great grandchildren, Christian Hunter, Gavin Saltz both of Tampa, FL; brother Gary Anderson of Frisco, TX; Nephew, Michael Anderson of Frisco, TX; Niece, Kristi Flanagan of Frisco, TX; special friend, Rene Aube of Cumming. Memorial services will be held Monday, November 14th at 4:00 pm at Ingram Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends at Ingram Funeral Home on Monday from 2:00 pm until hour of service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 26 Broadway, 14th Floor, New York, NY 10004.
