Estell Tidwell Venable, 91, of Cumming, Georgia passed away peacefully on September 3, 2018.
Estell was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. She attended J. Allen Couch Grammar School, Okeefe Junior High School and The Atlanta Girls High School. She and her family moved to Forsyth County in 1967 when they purchased a large acreage farm in the Midway Community. She also learned to be a good steward of the land.
Estell was an active member of Midway United Methodist Church where she was a Lay Delegate to Annual Conferences, served on numerous Board Positions, but the love of her life was teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School since 1969. Estell volunteered with 1st graders learning to read at Chestatee, Vickery, Cumming and Coal Mountain Elementary Schools. She was president of the P.T.A at Midway Elementary School from 1969 1970. She helped form and start the Cumming Chapter of AARP and served in all position. Mrs. Venable was chosen as Woman Volunteer of Forsyth County 1992.
Mrs. Venable was preceded in death by her husband, C. A. Venable, Sr.; son, C. A. Venable, Jr. (Chunky); and great granddaughter, Kyra Colvin. Estell was the daughter of William S. Tidwell and Mollie Earnhart Tidwell. Also preceding her in death were her two sisters, Rose T. Brown and Georgia T. Dameron; eight brothers, Jim, Tom, Ben, Bob, Walter, Dick, Johnny and Crawford Tidwell. Estell was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Survivors include her children, Elaine, Robin, Perry and Annette (Anney). Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, Melanie, Larissa, Jessica, Rose, Missy, Anna, Sara, Justus, Zac, Coby, Jacob, Skyler, Jeb and Ethan. Estell (Maw) leaves7 great grandchildren, Kyli, Kota, Karson, Evan, Abby, Eli and Coley. A host of nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones also survive. Estell leaves behind her special friend E. H. Reid, Sr.
Funeral services will be Thursday, September 6th at 1:00 pm at Ingram Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Danny Bennett officiating. Interment will follow in Sawnee View Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm and 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm and on Thursday from 10:00 am until hour of the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice in honor of her memory. No Longer Bound and Family Haven held a special place in her heart.
