Frances Worley, a loving mother and grandmother, passed away on Wednesday, September 18th, 2024 at North Georgia Assisted Living in Dawsonville, with her daughter by her side, after a long, hard-fought battle with Lewy Body Dementia at the age of 83. She was born on June 1st,1941 in Cumming, Georgia to the late Lucille Gilbert Green and Willard Green. Frances graduated from Forsyth County High School in 1960 and was known as both an excellent seamstress, working for many years at Lad-n-Dad Pants Factory in Cumming and then making most of her daughter’s clothes during her elementary school years and a wonderful cook, creating favorite dishes of her family members throughout her life. She married John D. “Johnny” Worley, her high school sweetheart, on July 3, 1965 after he graduated from The University of Georgia, passed the CPA exam and settled into full-time employment.
In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by Johnny, her husband of 22 years, in 1987 and her special friend of 26 years, Jimmy McBrayer, in 2018.
Frances is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Rachel and Mike Mathis of Young Harris; her grandson, Daniel Mathis of Athens; sister, Jeanette Henderson of Cumming, brothers and sisters-in-law, Douglas Green of Cumming, Ronald and Sheila Green of Cumming, Richard and Tabatha Green of Gainesville(Forsyth County) and Phil and Brenda Green of Carnesville. Many cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and friends also survive. Special thanks to the staff of both North Georgia Assisted Living and Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center for their loving and compassionate care of Frances during the last 7 years and 4 months, respectively.
A funeral service for Frances will be held on Friday, September 20th, 2024 at 2:00 pm in the Ingram Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robbie Mathis officiating. Burial will follow at Sawnee View Gardens. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday, September 19th from 5:00 -8:00 p.m and on Friday, September 20th from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
