Frank North, age 92, of Alpharetta, GA, passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2017. Frank was born and raised in Sweetwater, TN. He served in the US Navy during WWII, from May 1943 December 1945 on board the USS Herzog (DE 178). After serving his country, he attended Hiawassee Junior College, where he played football. He then attended Tennessee Tech University on a football scholarship, where he graduated with a B.S. in Education. He then went on to coach at various high schools. Eventually becoming the head college football coach at Marion Military Institute and Livingston University. He finished his coaching career with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League.
Frank is preceded in death by his parents, James N. North and Ada Francis North; siblings, James, Helen, Edna Mae, John Raymond and his infant child, Francis Jane North.
Survivors include his wife of 73 years, Fannie Rhea North of Alpharetta; children, Frank Leon North, Jr. and his wife Patsy of Montgomery, And Jerry North and his wife Rebecca of Alpharetta; 2 grandchildren, Brett and Lisa, and many loving relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Thursday, December 21, 2017, at Ingram Funeral Home from 11 am to noon.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, in the Ingram Funeral Home chapel at noon.
Ingram Funeral Home Crematory, Cumming, Georgia is in charge of arrangements.
