Frank Velek, age 82, of Cumming, GA, passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2018. Frank was born and raised in Chicago, IL. He served in the US Army, from 1959-1961 Army reserves until 1966. He worked his entire life for Telephone Industry. He worked for MA Bell in Chicago for 5 years before serving his country, General Telephone for 37 years in Tampa, FL, and ATT in Cumming, GA for 10 years where he retired again at age of 73. He met his beloved wife Lea while in the service stationed in Fort Sill, Oklahoma. They were married 39 years until her passing in Duluth, GA in 2000.
Frank is preceded in death by parents Charles and Mary Velek (Chicago), his wife Melba L Velek (from Texas).
Survivors include his daughter, Karen D Smith of Cumming; son-in-law Amos Jody Smith; granddaughter, Jennifer L. Maciuszek of Atlanta; 4 step-grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; brother86, Charlie Velek in Melbourne, Fl; 2 nephews, great niece nephew Mark and Trisha Patterson, and many loving relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Saturday July 28, 2018 at Ingram Funeral Homefrom 11 am to noon.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday July 28, 2018 in the Ingram Funeral Home chapelat noonwith full military honors.
Private Direct Inurnment will be held Friday, August 3, 2018 at Georgia National Cemetary in Canton, GA, where Frank and Lea will be laid to rest together.
In lieu of flowers the family requests consideration of donations to Wounded Warriors, American Cancer Society, or Seasons Foundation
(http://seasonsfoundation.org/) who help children, veterans and those in need. All organizations he supported or who supported him at end of life.
Ingram Funeral Home Crematory, Cumming, Georgia is in charge of arrangements.
