Franklin Frank Lee Cornwell

Franklin Frank Lee Cornwell, 80, of John’s Creek, GA, passed away February 10, 2023, at home with his loving wife Laura by his side. He was born in Logan, West Virginia, to the late Curtis and Verona Cornwell on April 24, 1942. He grew up in West Virginia as the oldest of 7 children. He was known as the wise older brother.

Frank was a natural leader, with an initial career in pastoral ministry and later managing and owning multiple business enterprises. He was a consummate professional both in business acumen and relational wisdom. He enjoyed golf, football, (Roll Tide!), reading, and being with his family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife, Laura; Laura’s mother Phyllis Kramer (George); children, Jeff Cornwell, Sheila DiGiacomo (Michael), and Christopher Cornwell (Anna); grandchildren, Averie Gildemeyer (Connor) and Ayden DiGiacomo; and siblings, Curt Cornwell, Naomi Vermette, Paul Cornwell, and Ruth Cook; his brother Webb and sister Debbie predeceased him.

Frank met his wife Laura Spinner in Tallahassee, Florida. Their love for each other sparked and grew quickly and deeply. They were married on February 14, 1987. For almost 37 years their love was vibrant and an inspiration to others.

His grandchildren created a nickname for him, Bapa. He looked forward to visits from them and instilled in them a love for life, providing a great example of enjoying all that life brings.

Family and friends are welcome to attend a celebration of life, which will be held at the John’s Creek United Methodist Church on March 11, 2023 from 1:00-2:00 p.m., Reverend Pam McCrudy officiating. Laura and the family will receive friends at a luncheon following the service.
