Gary A. Williams, age 85, of Cumming, Georgia passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2016 after a 10 year battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Gary was born October 4, 1930 in Jackson, MS to the late Floyd E. and Ruby Roberts Williams. The family lived in Crystal Springs, MS, where Gary's father died in 1937 of heart disease. His mother remarried four years later to H.C. Whitten and the family moved to Long Beach, MS. Gary played football for 4 years at Long Beach High School where he graduated in 1947 and then worked as a Postal Clerk in Long Beach while attending Ole Miss Extension classes in Gulfport, MS. In 1950, Gary joined the U.S. Marine Corps and was discharged in 1952. In September of 1952, Gary met Ann Harrod and in November of 1953 they were married at the Baptist Church in Long Beach. In 1959, Gary was selected into the United States Postal Inspection Service and left for training in January of 1960. He retired after 25 years of service, living in Stone Mountain, GA at the time. Gary and Ann moved to Cumming, GA where they celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary. Gary is survived by his wife, Ann; sons, David and Tim; a daughter, Melinda; 9 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and a brother, Floyd E. Williams of Carthage, MS. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 5, at 11:00 a.m. at the Ingram Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be later at the Long Beach City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m..
