Geneva Ann Pruitt

Geneva Ann Pruitt, 78, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 20, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. at her home, after a 5-year struggle with Parkinsons Disease and Dementia. Geneva was born on September 2, 1938, in Cumming, Georgia, and was the daughter of the late James ONeal Wallis and Lilla Mae Corn.

In 1954, Geneva married the love of her life, Joe H. Pruitt. They lived in and around the Atlanta area to be close to General Motors from which he retired after 30 years of service. They returned to the Forsyth County area in 1967 where they have resided for 38 years.

Geneva enjoyed singing, playing the piano, cooking, gardening, sewing, trout fishing, camping, and taking care of her family. In addition to raising six children, she drove a school bus for Forsyth County for 23 years and worked as a custodian at First Baptist Church of Cumming for 13 years. She could do anything she set her mind to achieve; a very hard worker, vibrant, smart, and enjoyed attending church services and fellowship with friends. Geneva was saved and baptized at the age of 9 at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church. She and her husband of 63 years are currently members of Blessed Hope Baptist Church.

Geneva was preceded in death by her two sons, Alvin Pruitt and Ricky Pruitt, and a sister, Corrine Russell. She is survived by her husband, Joe H. Pruitt, and children, Terry Pruitt (Debbie), Connie Partington (Jeff), Shannon Pruitt (Pam), Renita ODell , (Brian), daughters-in-law, Penny Pruitt and Judy Pruitt, 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, a sister, Sandra Pope (Charley), and 2 brothers, Larry Wallis (Kathy) and Harry Wallis (Linda).

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 24, at 2:00 p.m. at the Ingram Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Martin and Rev. Harold Bottoms officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Thurday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
