George Smith Clines Jr., 87, passed away peacefully early on the morning of April 6, 2024.
George was born in Crockett Texas, November 10, 1936. He was a proud graduate of Texas A&M where he graduated with a BBA degree. George married Greeta Mae Pellerin on July 20, 1964, and remained by her side until her passing on October 31, 2016. For his career, George worked at Marriott-in-flight as a kitchen and storeroom manager. This had him overseeing the details that go into preparing meals for all Eastern Airlines southeast region passengers, until he medically retired in 1989.
George is survived by his loving son Cameron George Clines (Cathy), and daughter Libby Dixon (Devin). George is also survived by his sister Anna Bradley, brother Henry Clines (Sara), and sister Frances Harvey. He has six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren who will miss him greatly.
Anyone that knew George knew he loved God, his wife, and his family dearly. He served as a Deacon and treasurer at his church (Grace Presbyterian PCA) in Stone Mountain Ga for many years. He would never turn down a chance to serve, and if he could get in the kitchen and cook for a crowd, he was happy to do so. His gift of hospitality brought many from his workplace and church together at his home, and this resulted in the expansion of God's Kingdom!
Then there was baseball, the Atlanta Braves in particular. If the Braves were playing...they were on our TV. Dad, also known as "Papa" to many, invested heavily into raising two kids centered in Christ, and helping make sure they succeeded... even if it was in a dream different from his own. His love for God was easy to see and feel as he was a true example of Jesus Christ in the household.
Celebration of life will be held at The Vine Community Church in Cumming GA. 30040 on 04/13/24 from 3:00 to 5:00. (The famous Clines family cheese grits (or at least the best Cam his son can make) will be served with BBQ after the service)
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate any gifts in honor of George to go towards Vijiji Home of Light (VHL) in Kenya. This is an orphanage that his daughter Libby serves with. Gifts in honor of George may be sent through:
