George Truman Benson

George Truman Benson, age 88, of Cumming, Ga., passed away Monday, November 1, 2010. He was a member of Cumming Baptist Church. George was in the Navy and served in the 112th Navy Construction Battalion (Seabees). He was also a life time member of the Lions Club International. He is preceded in death by his son and daughter-in-law Jimmy and Vicki Benson. George is survived by his loving wife Betty Benson of Cumming; children, Steven and Patsy Benson, Ben and Ronda Benson, Gayle and George Funes all of Cumming; sister, Virginia Davies of Griffin; grandchildren, Stefanie and Bruce Corey, Kyle and Laurie Benson, Kerry and Tracy Benson, Heather Smith, Hillarie Smith, Beth Benson, Bud, Cass and Will Benson; six great grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives survive. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, November 4, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Cumming Baptist Church with Dr. Barry Crocker and Rev. Roger Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Ingram Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 2, 2010 from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 from 2:00 p.m.- 5:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Cumming Baptist Church Building Fund. 115 Church Street Cumming, Ga. 30040 or Embracing Hospice 8013 Majors Road Cumming, Ga. 30041.
