Grace Evelyn Allmon

Grace Evelyn Allmon, age 91, was born July 21, 1932 and passed away June 22, 2024. 

Grace was the youngest of 12 children born to Tom Asberry Garrett and Lula May Clark- Garrett in Maryville, Tennessee. She was married to her husband, James William Allmon on 31 December 1948. Grace was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed gardening, but even more than gardening, she loved to fish. She was quick to smile and her laugh was infectious! Her home was always full of family and they wanted to be there. Everyone loved being in her company! She took great joy in keeping up with her Children's, grandchildren's and great grandchildren’s lives. If she couldn’t keep up with you in person, she would make time to talk to you on the phone (for hours!)

Grace was preceded in death by her husband, James William Allmon, and her son, Dwight David Allmon; her brothers; Charlie, Olie, Glen, Marlie, Luther and Clifford Garrett; her sisters; Tina Lee Ledbetter, Mallie Burchfield, Allie Jones, Helen Burchfield and Lena Allmon. 

She will be held in loving memory by her surviving family members, son, Gary William Allmon and his wife, Terry Allmon; daughters, Barbara Evelyn (Allmon) Sheats and husband, Larry R. Sheats; Brenda Sue (Allmon) Ivey, Joyce Allmon LaMar and husband, John W. LaMar, Delores Ann (Allmon) Hamby and husband, Tommy Hamby. 

She has 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 7 great, great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 29 at 2:00 p.m. at the Ingram Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Midway United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
