Harriett Josephine (Smith) Tillery, 76, passed away Friday, May 31, 2019 at her Lawrenceville home with her family by her side. She was born September 28, 1942 in Savannah, Georgia to Levin Matthew and Sarah Elizabeth (Carter) Smith.
Harriet was a devoted wife (of 56 years), mom, grandma and great-grandma. She found great joy in spending time with her family and watching it grow. She attended every recital, game or graduation that she could, always with a smile on her face. She was a woman of many talents and she executed each role put before her with grace and elegance.
Mrs. Tillery retired in 2007 from Southern Care Enterprises after 35 years of hard work and dedication. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star of Georgia, in both the Cumming and Cross Keys Chapters. During her time in the Cross Keys Chapter, she served as Worthy Matron five times and other numerous chairs, including Grand Representative of Georgia at the Wyoming Convention. She was also a volunteer for many years at Northside Hospital in Cumming, Georgia.
Her presence is already missed, but her love continues to surround us.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Levin and Sarah, and her sister Juanita Wiindham.
She is survived by her husband, Billy Joe Tillery; daughters, Susan (David) Strupp and Lisa (David) Butler; and son, James (Kathryn) Tillery; 8 grandchildren, Christopher, Jeremy, Lauren, Stephanie, Taralyn, Kevin, Elizabeth, and Jessica; and 4 great-grandchildren: Debbie, Clark, Calvin and Spencer. She is also survived by her sister Joyce Parr, along with multiple nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, June 1 from 3 - 5 PM at Ingram Funeral Home in Cumming, GA.
The funeral will be Sunday, June 2 at 2 PM at Ingram Funeral Home followed by interment at Suwanee View Gardens.
Ingram Funeral Home Crematory, 210 Ingram Ave, Cumming, GA 30040 is in charge of arrangements.
