Helen Corene Thornton

Helen Corine Thornton, age 95 of Canton, passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2016. She was the oldest member of Beaver Ruin Baptist Church. She loved gardening and quilting. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Lee Thornton; parents, Herschel and Velvie Cagle Youngblood; brothers. Rev. Herbert Youngblood, Ralph Youngblood, Robert Youngblood. Survivors include her children, Louise (James) Westbrook of Shady Dale, Mildred (Randall) Howard of Canton; Larry Thornton of Saint Simons Island, Danny Thornton of Marble Hill; 12 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; 15 great-great grandchildren; friend and caregiver, Loza Watkins. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at 3:00 pm at Ingram Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dan Henderson, Rev. Ed Westbrook and Rev. Roger Shadburn officiating. Interment will follow in Sawnee View Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Monday from 2:00 pm until 9:00 pm and Tuesday from 10:00 am until hour of service.
