Henry B. Hughes

Henry B. Hughes, age 69, of Jefferson, GA, passed away on Sunday, October 24, 2021. He was born in 1952, to the late Wesley and Lois Hughes. Henry was a Forsyth County School graduate of 1970. While attending Forsyth County High School, Henry found the love of his life, Gail Burruss. He was a lifelong builder and developer and spent the last 20 years working in the erosion control business. He owned and operated H & G Erosion Control Inc. Henry was a mason. He enjoyed fishing and driving his RV. Henry always enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. Henry was very proud of his sons and their families. The last house Henry built was his home in Jefferson, GA. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, John and Frances Burruss; sister-in-law, Phyllis Burruss; niece, Lynn Anderson, and brothers-in-law, Richard Anderson and Donald Burruss.

He is survived by his loving wife of almost 50 years, Gail Burruss Hughes; children, Brian (Marie) Hughes and Blake (Erin) Hughes; grandchildren, Avery, Camryn, Destiny, and Kerry; siblings, Gene (Brenda) Hughes, James (Linda) Hughes, Michael (Jimmie Lou) Hughes, Nina Anderson, Marilyn (Donald) Stone, and Ann Hughes; along with a number of nieces and nephews; and sisters-in-law, Deborah Bramblett (Steve Northan), and Carolyn Burruss, and brother-in-law, Harold Burruss.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at 3:00 p.m. at Bethelview United Methodist Church in Cumming, GA with Rev. Orin Sampson officiating. Interment will follow at Sawnee View Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Mr. Hughes will lie in state at the church on Wednesday from 2:30 p.m. until the hour of service.
