Henry Boyd Hildebrand

Henry Boyd Hildebrand, who went by “Hank” and “Boyd”, passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2022, in Cumming, Georgia at the age of 75.  He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Alice Hildebrand [McCartney], his daughter Elizabeth (Joe) Perkins Hildebrand Matherne, and his grandchildren Maitland Matherne, Madeline Matherne and Mariner Matherne.  Boyd was born in Camden, New Jersey on January 23, 1947, to Howard Henry Hildebrand and Thelma May Hildebrand [Fischer].  He grew up outside of Philadelphia and came from a long line of entrepreneurs and craftsmen.  He loved music and musical theatre from a young age.  His father had a record made of three-year-old Boyd singing “Jesus Loves Me” and other children’s hymns.  Boyd played the trombone and starred in his high school’s production of the Sound of Music as Rolf.  College brought him to the South where he remained the rest of his life.  He studied marketing at William Jennings Bryan College and Austin Peay State University; both in Tennessee.  On his summer breaks during college, he sold books door-to-door all over the United States.  He loved to tell stories about the funny things he encountered and the marketing lessons he learned while on those book selling adventures.  

With a career in menswear spanning more than 50 years, from custom suits to men’s formal wear, he helped countless people have a “painless” experience in looking their best.  He owned and ran Boyd Brandt Formalwear in Buckhead for 10 years (1986-1996) and Tuxedo Wearhouse in Cumming for 27 years (1995-2022).  Through the years, in both his professional and family life, he went out of his way to make others feel special and supported with his smile, his laughter, and his huge heart.

His Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at 3PM at Ingram Funeral Home (210 Ingram Ave, Cumming, GA 30040). In lieu of flowers, the family requests for donations to be made to the Forsyth County Humane Society.
