The unforgettable, Howard Clifford Woodman, was born on September 8th, 1937 in Chicago, Illinois and went to join the angels on March 15, 2021. He is preceded in death by his daughter Jodee Lynn Plemmons and is survived by his wife Gloria, his son Jeff (Nancy) Woodman of Cumming and his step-children Leslie Buice and Adam (Meghan) Buice of Cumming and his 7 grandchildren Matthew (Cassidi) Woodman of Gainesville, Sarah Plemmons, Jordan Plemmons, Jennifer Saltz, Banks Buice, Reagan Buice and Kayla Gadiss.
Howard was truly one of those men who was larger than life. Those that were privileged enough to call him friend or family can close their eyes right now and hear that big, wonderful, baritone voice that warmed your soul and see that even bigger genuine smile. He lived a spectacular life worthy of envy. He put himself through college by wowing audiences across South Chicago with his band, the BeeBops. It was while travelling that he developed his love of travel and trains so much so that he became a rail car engineer, but Howard would not stop there. He went on to develop his own railroad design and manufacturing plant after college. He told rich stories, regaling loved ones with tales of his many talents and travels. He could keep any audience rapt when sharing his love of anything from golf, Georgia football, gardening, to anything equestrian and boating on Lake Lanier. Howard enjoyed good food and fine wine with the company of his loved ones.
Not only was he an amazing man with immense talents but he spoke his mind and stood behind what he said. A true rarity in our world today. He was supremely loving. He adored his wife, Gloria. He loved his children and grandchildren fiercely and spent his final years showing them just how much. He treasured his dogs Winston and Bailey, he loved to play among them and relished watching his young grandchildren play with them. He was also a man of God. The Cumming First United Methodist Church was a second home and you can be sure to find a worn, thoroughly loved and studied Bible by his bedside.
The world definitely lost one of its shining beacons - but the hymns they're singing in heaven are a little sweeter today as they share the joy we have in celebrating a life well-lived.
The family asks that you remember his life well-lived with a smile. The family will be receiving friends and colleagues at Ingram Funeral Home on Thursday, March 18th, from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of the service in the Chapel at 2:00 p.m..
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Cumming First United Methodist Church.
Ingram Funeral Home and Crematory, 210 Ingram Ave; Cumming, GA is in charge of the arrangements.
