Howard Stephens

Howard Stephens of Cumming, GA passed away Wednesday, September 11th, 2024.

Born on June 7th, 1935, in Smyrna, GA. He is preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Eva Stephens, one infant son and number of brothers and sisters.

Howard and Sylvia were married on August 26th, 1955, and had just celebrated 69 wonderful years of marriage. He was a proud Army Veteran. Howard and Sylvia loved to travel with family and friends across the country and often to Renfro Valley, KY to see some of their favorite bluegrass bands. He retired from Scientific Atlanta in 1993. After retirement he and Sylvia relocated from Smyrna to Cumming to be closer to the grandkids. Once there, they became a part of the daily breakfast crowd at Bojangles in Dawsonville where they made some great friends.

He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Merritt Stephens, of Cumming, Chesley Stephens of Woodstock, Jeff and Pam Stephens of Cleveland. Grandchildren Kelli and Josh Kilpatrick of Winder, Kyle and Julie Stephens of Dawsonville and Maggie Stephens of Woodstock. Great-Grandchildren Porter and Charlee Kilpatrick, along with several brothers and sisters in law, nieces, nephews and a host of wonderful friends.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, September 15, from 2:00 to 8:00 pm and Monday from 9:00 am until the time of the service.

Funeral Services will be held at the chapel of Ingram Funeral Home on Monday, September 16, at 11:00 am with Rev. Tommy Young and Mike Stephens officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow Riverview Cemetery, 5411 South Cobb Drive; Smyrna, GA 30080.
