Hoyt Clay Smith, 91 went to meet his Heavenly Father on May 4, 2017 at 6:40 a.m. Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Janell Nix Smith; two children, Tony A. Smith and wife Laura of Cumming and Barbara S. Roper and husband Randy of Dawsonville; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Hoyt was a member of Ophir Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, choir director and song leader. He was also a veteran of WWII, a member of Redwine Lodge, and a lifelong Atlanta Braves fan. Funeral services for Mr. Smith will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Ingram Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Frazier, Rev. Clyde Boling, and Rev. Troy Milford and Rev. Gary Keown. Interment will follow at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday, from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service.
