Hugh Bramblett Martin, 84, of Cumming, GA, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2024, with his wife and children by his side. He was born to the late Egbert and Lucile Bell Martin. He loved his family and serving others and was a devoted son, husband, father, brother, worker, and friend. He was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church, and his unwavering faith led him to become an ordained deacon and minister. Hugh pastored four churches throughout his ministry and officiated countless weddings, baptisms, and funerals. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, J.L. (Montree) Martin and Billy Martin; sisters, Janell (J.L) Temple and Ineal Martin; brothers-in-law, Jerry Bagwell and Larry Burruss.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jane Martin of Cumming; children, Tim (Mary Lou) Martin of Cumming, Lisa (Brian) O’Connor of Alpharetta; and grandchildren, Peri Martin, Jake Martin, Sarah O’Connor, and Brenna O’Connor. Hugh also leaves behind brothers, Hayward (Lunell) Martin, Ruel (Toni) Martin, Truel (June) Martin; sisters, Elizabeth Bagwell, Mary Burruss, Phyllis (Frank) Free; brother-in-law Dennis (Gail) Gravitt, and many nieces and nephews.
Hugh worked in the auto parts industry for 64 years. Many in the community remember him for his time at Cumming Supply Company, where he managed the store for 25 years. He loved road trips and cars, especially his prized possession, a 1959 Ford Fairlane. He will be remembered as a sweet, kind, loving, and peaceful man who deeply loved his family.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 3, at 1:00 p.m. at the Ingram Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Garry English, Rev. Tim Hubbard and Rev. Truel Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Sawnee View Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
