Iluminada “Lumie” Cruz Byers

Iluminada Cruz Byers, age 80, of Cumming, GA, passed away on Tuesday, August 20th, peacefully at her home. She was preceded in death by her parents, Francisco and Aura Cruz. She was born in Veraguas, Panama, and moved to the United States when she married her husband in February of 1969.

Lumie was a faithful member of First Baptist Church Cumming where she took great joy in serving on multiple committees. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, playing cards and dominos, cooking, watching movies, and spending time with her family and friends. 

Lumie is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Willard Byers, her two daughters, Anita Byers Feliciano (Tony) and Angela Byers Jackson (Ron). She was a devoted "Mima" to her grandchildren, Marcos Feliciano (Jessica), Alec Feliciano (Ally), Elena Feliciano, Anna Jackson and Luke Jackson, as well as her precious great granddaughter, Sophia Feliciano.

Lumie was one of five girls. Her sisters LaLa, Teresa, Libby, and Aurita, all survive her and still reside in Panama.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am, Monday, August 26th at Ingram Funeral Home, 210 Ingram Ave. Cumming, Ga. 30040. The family will receive friends Monday, the 26th at 10 am. Graveside service to follow at Georgia National Cemetery, 1080 Scott Hudgens Drive, Canton, GA.
