J.T. Wilkie

Mr. J.T. Wilkie, age 92, of the Free Home community in Cherokee County, passed away peacefully on September 30th, 2016, at Canton Nursing Center. J.T. was a member of Hightower Baptist Church in Ball Ground. He was a loving father, grandfather, and friend. J.T. never met a stranger and was well loved around the community. He lived his life simple and to the fullest. He enjoyed his cattle, gardening, and time spent on the tractor. He is preceded in death by his wife, Christine Wilkie; parents, Robert Lee and Gennie Wilkie He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Edwin and Tabitha Wilkie; grandchildren, Kyle and Emily Wilkie; special friend, Kathleen Monroe Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 2, 2016, at 3:00 p.m., at Hightower Baptist Church in Ball Ground, with Rev. Ronnie McCormick and Rev. Gerral Richards officiating. The interment will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 1, 2016, from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and again on Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Mr. Wilkie will lie-in-state at Hightower Baptist Church from 2:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Sunday.
