James Carter Garrison

James C. Garrison, Jr., age 82, of Gainesville, Georgia passed away December 17, 2013. Jim is survived by son, Randal (Lynn) Patterson, daughter Candy (Alan) Blacklock, son Jimmy (Robin) Garrison, and their mother Margaret; sister Eleanor Rivers of Asheville, NC; five grandchildren, Morgan and Rachel Blacklock, Carter Garrison, and Jenna and Nicole Patterson. His father and mother, James and Katherine Garrison and sister Diane Brannon preceded him in death. Jim was born in Asheville, NC. After high school he enlisted in the Air Force where he served four years in Alaska as an air traffic controller. He then decided to further his education and graduated with honors from the University of Georgia. After graduation he began his career in forestry and retired in the real estate and building industry. Jim was an avid outdoorsman with a passion for fishing and especially enjoyed his work post retirement with the Georgia DNR. A military service to honor and celebrate the life of Jim Garrison will be held at 10 am on Thursday December 19 at Byars Funeral Home in Cumming. Immediately following Jim will be laid to rest at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA.
