James Cephas Bagley
October 8, 1920 - August 15, 2014
Jim Bagley was the son of Troy and Bertha Bagley and grew up in Cumming, GA. He attended the two room Oak Grove school and graduated from Cumming High School in 1938. He attended Tocoa College for a while and worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCCs). He also attained a private pilot's license and loved to fly Piper Cubs.
Mr. Bagley joined the Army in 1942. After completing Signal Corps Technical School at Camp Crowder, Missouri, he was deployed in the Pacific where he was stationed in New Guinea as a teletype operator.
After leaving the Army in 1946 with honors, Jim''s outgoing and personable demeanor contributed to much success in sales. Through the years he sold upholstery, insurance, home interiors and finally, Electrolux vacuum cleaners.
Jim always enjoyed driving around to drop in and visit family and friends. He was well known for his love of the game of golf which he played daily during his retirement. He passed away at 93 years of age while at Bill Nichols Memorial Veteran''s home in Alexander City, AL on Friday, August 15.
He is survived by his sons: Jimmy, Johnny and Chris; grandchildren: Audry, Kasey Murphy, Steffanie Tow, Joshua, Linda, Tim, and Micah; great grandchildren: Cayden Sewell, Parker, Jaylah and Ashton Tow; and siblings: Preston, Bob, Larry, Margaret and Jerry.
Services are being held at Brookwood Babtist Church Cumming, Ga at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 19th, 2014. The family will receive friends at Byars Funeral Home, Cumming, Ga. during the hours of 5:00 p.m.until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, August 18th, 2014.
Interment will be on Thursday, August 21st, at 11 a.pm at Brookwood Baptist Church
