James Durwood "Woody" Watkins

James Durwood "Woody" Watkins, 72, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2012 after a long illness. His parents, Jefferson Dudley and Elizabeth Herren Watkins Rees, preceded him in death. Woody was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama where he was a Master Carpenter and Woodworker. He moved with his family in 1973 to Garden City, Georgia where he owned and operated Watkins Building Group with his 3 sons. His craftsmanship can be seen in many high end custom homes in the Savannah and Hilton Head area. Woody is survived by his sons, Bradley Watkins (Shari), Trace Watkins (Lauree), Jared Watkins, and daughter Laurel Watkins and 3 beautiful granddaughters, Haley Watkins and Mallory and Morgan Watkins. He also leaves several relatives in the Savannah, Georgia and Birmingham, Alabama areas. A Christian burial service will be conducted at Faith Christian Retreat, 4806 Old Louisville Road, Garden City, Georgia on Sunday, November 18, 2012 at 2:00pm.
