James Garston (J.G.) Green, age 95, a lifelong resident of Cumming, Georgia passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2016. Garston was saved in 1937 at the age of 16 at Bethlehem Baptist Church. He was then a member of Friendship Baptist Church beginning in 1944. Garston was a devoted husband, father, Papa, brother, uncle, business man, and friend. He was preceded in death by his father Mark Green, mother Estelle Rollins Green, sisters Evelyn Pendley, Eleene Holbrook and wife of 62 years, Evelyn Stewart Green. Garston served on the Friendship Baptist Church Finance Committee for 34 years. He also served as President of the Seekers Sunday School class. He served on The Board of Directors for the Georgia Independent Auto Dealer Association. He was a director for Forsyth County Farm Bureau for 40 years. He was on the Hospital Authority for Forsyth County Hospital and Northside Forsyth Hospital for 9 years. Walking in the legacy of his father and mother, Garston and his wife Evelyn were well known local business owners who were the owners of J.G. Green Grocery and J.G. Green Used Cars from 1961 until retirement. The property which housed these businesses as well as the previous M.M. Green General Merchandise is now known as Green's Corner. Garston is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Lois and Wayne Bennett of Dawsonville; grandchildren, Julie Watson of Woodstock, Kate Bennett of Wake Forest, NC, Jason and Sandra Bennett of Cumming, Byron and Whitney Bennett of Dawsonville; great grandsons, Brock Bennett and Bryce Bennett; sister-in-law Lillian Mullinax of McDonough, Mary Martin of Cumming, Brenda and Tommy Estes of Ball Ground; brothers-in-law Jerry and Geraldine Stewart of Ranger, Jackie and Arlene Stewart of Canton, and many special nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 20th at 2:00pm at Friendship Baptist Church in Cumming with Rev. Ricky Byrd, Rev. Bud Sutton, and Rev. Randy Roper officiating. Interment will follow in Sawnee View Memorial Garden by way of Green's Corner. The family will receive friends and family at Ingram Funeral Home on Friday, November 18th from 2:00pm to 8:00pm and on Saturday November 19th from 2:00pm to 8:00pm.
