James (Jim) Hardie Jr, 87
Jim Hardie, of Big Canoe, GA, passed away on Monday, June 15, 2015.
Jim is predeceased by his parents, James and Lucille Hardie, his wife, Margo Joyce Hardie, his son Dwight Stephens Hardie, and his sister Dorothy Perfect.
Jim is lovingly remembered by his son Thomas Anderson Hardie; his daughter Jennifer Joyce Hatch; his sister Margaret Morris; and loving nieces, nephews, grandchildren and friends.
Born on April 1st, 1928 in Carlinville, IL, Jim served in the U.S. Army from 1946-1948 and again in 1951. He attended Blackburn College and The University of MO, graduating from the school of business in 1953. He worked for Shell Oil, Kroger and J.C. Penney as a corporate real estate agent, retiring in 1989.
Jim and his wife Margo moved to Big Canoe, GA, a mountain resort community north of Atlanta in 1994. Jim served on various Big Canoe committees, was active with the Big Canoe Animal Rescue and was a member of the Big Canoe Chapel.
Jim was engaging, kind and generous with everyone he met. He loved nature, animals, charitable works and helping others to better themselves. His true passion was the stock market and various financial endeavors. He spent many happy hours researching and implementing various strategies to that end. He also enjoyed staying physically fit, frequenting the athletic center and the indoor pool.
