James Stanley Strickland, 60, and his alter-ego Radar Jones, went to be with the Lord on May 17, 2021 after a fierce and heroic battle with cancer. Stan was born to the late James Dorsey and Myrtice Strickland on November 6, 1960. He is a graduate of Milton High School (1978) and Kennesaw College (1983). He was the wrangler, bartender and singing cowboy at the Limpin' Cowboy Ranch. For the last several years, Radar blessed the residents of many senior living and memory care centers with his talent as a singer, musician and storyteller. Stan and Radar's legacy will be their songs and music that touched many people through the years. Stan was described by a long-time friend as a singer, guitar-player, philosopher and loyal friend. He had an infectious personality and keen sense of humor. Stan was a hard person to forget and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Stan is survived by his wife of 33 years, Valerie, brother and sister-in-law Matthew and Kristin Strickland, aunt and uncle Beth and David Byess, uncle and aunt Jerry and Lynda Ridings, aunt Judy Ridings, equine companion of 29 years, Banjo, furbabies Chance, Peaches, Gus, Blue and Everett, 10 guitars, 2 banjos and many other musical instruments. Two young women who were like godchildren to him, Morgan Borlee and Natalie Delgado, numerous cousins and heartbroken friends are also left behind.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 20, 2021 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. A Celebration of Stan's Life will be held on Friday, May 21, 2021 at 2:00 pm at the Ingram Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Byess and Rev. Bud Sutton officiating. The family will also receive friends before the service beginning at 12:00 noon.
