James Lee Wheeler, 78, of Cumming passed away Monday, July 3, 2023. James was a faithful deacon at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Johns Creek and a U.S. Navy veteran serving during the Vietnam era. He loved to fish and hunt. The most important thing to James was taking care of Pam, his wife, and his family.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Pam Wheeler; children, Mickey and Karen Wheeler of Ellijay, Kim and Sam Rickett of Cumming, Amanda and Jess Swafford of Cumming; grandchildren, Dillon and Kelsey Wheeler, Jake and Haley Wheeler, Dawson and Rachel Rickett, Isaac and Adrianna Rickett, Logan Swafford and Carly Lamb, Nora Swafford; great grandchildren, James, Jensen and Bryant Wheeler; brothers, Larry and Faye Wheeler of Woodstock, Dennis and Cheryl Wheeler of Jackson; a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 7, at 11:00 a.m. at the Ingram Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mickey Wheeler, Rev. Sam Rickett, Rev. Dawson Rickett, Rev. Cody Thomas and Rev. Tyler Goode officiating. Interment will follow at Nimblewill Baptist Church Cemetery in Lumpkin County.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
