James Wood Perdue

James Wood Perdue, age 87, of Cumming, GA passed peacefully to the next part of his journey on February 2, 2018. He was born on September 13, 1930 to Edna Mae Dunn Perdue and Benjamin Franklin Perdue. He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife of 51 years, Frances Bell Perdue; his brothers, Alfred, Carlton, and Ronnie and his sister, Annette Tyson. He was survived by his beloved wife, Linda C. Perdue; his children: son, Robert (Susan) Perdue and daughters, Marie (Earl) Thomas, Connie (James) Merritt, and Lorrie J Perdue; his sister, Wanda (Scott) Putnam and his brother, William and Lindas son, Jeff Reeves; his grandchildren: Shelli (Kurt) Kercher, CJ (Annalisa) Draves, Nicole Burmeister, Courtney (Jay) Cousino, Joshua (Dirlene) Carr, Jason (Grace) Merritt, Mya Merritt, Rachel Merritt; his great grandchildren: Madison and Dylan Draves, Alayna Burmeister, McKenna and Brycen Cousino, Mya Crapo, David and Gabriel Scherschun, Evan Merritt, Wyatt Harley Reeves, and four additional greatgrandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Jim was raised in the Mill Village in Griffin, GA and began his work career at a young age to help support his mother and siblings. Jim proudly served his country overseas during the Korean Conflict. He had a lengthy career in the federal government with the General Services Administration. His favorite position was as buildings manager for the Nixon compound at Key Biscayne, FL. After retiring, he continued his home remodeling and repair business with his partner, Mark Murray. Jim could build or fix just about anything. He loved gardening, especially his hostas and day lilies. Friends and family enjoyed the beautiful seasonal displays in his yard and the bounty of his fruits and vegetables.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 6, at 11:00 a.m. at the Ingram Funeral Home Chapel. Interment, with military honors, will follow at Hopewell Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
