Janet Lee McConnell

On January 1, 2016, our beloved mother Jan passed into God's hands. God's gift to our world entered on April 11, 1934 as the third of Lena and Wayne Hagerman's five children. Thus began a life of helping others, as she attended nursing school, becoming an RN at the age of 22. Soon after, she married Timothy McConnell and began a family of seven loving children. Her nursing career spanned six decades and touched countless lives. To say she was special would be understating the mark she left. She often had to work two jobs to support her family and numerous family friends who found their way into her life. Through it all, she maintained a positive outlook on the many challenges thrown her way. At the age of 46, she went back to school and graduated with a Bachelor's of Nursing degree three years later. Her nursing career included time caring for others in psychiatry, obstetrics, premature births, and home health care. Her greatest legacy is the loving influence she had on everyone she met. The love she shared and passed on is everlasting. She truly made the world a better place. She is survived by seven children, Kevin, Karen Allen, Kelly, Kirk, Kathleen Cross, Kenneth and Katrina Wilson. She is also survived by eighteen grandchildren, Ben, Kip, Tiffany, Nicholas, Jason, Trey, Trevor, Dylan, Ryan, Shane, Jordan, Connor, Javier, Oscar, Madison, Shana, Colt, and Austin. In addition, she is survived by loving in-laws, Christie, Tom, Mimi, John, Luz, and Lee and many extended family members. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 7th at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of the Good Shepherd. Interment will follow in Sawnee View Memorial Gardens. A reception will follow at the Church following the interment. The family will receive friends at Ingram Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Ingram Funeral Home & Crematory, Cumming, Georgia is in charge of arrangements.
