JANICE MAGID GHERTNER, 90, of Atlanta, Georgia passed away on Friday June 3rd, 2011.
Janice M. Ghertner, of Atlanta, died June 3, 2011 following a short
illness at Hospice Atlanta. She was predeceased by her husband, Gerald H.
Ghertner, and is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Sue and David Bernath, sons, Andrew L. Ghertner and Simon S. Ghertner and daughter-in-law Hannah Ghertner, 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Mrs. Ghertner was born in Providence, RI, grew up in Miami Beach, FL, and came to Atlanta, GA with her husband to open his familys printing company in the 1940s. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother who lifted people's spirits, and was noted for her independence, pride and heart of gold. She was actively involved with The Temple as the president of its sisterhood, head of the Temple Youth Group and a mentor to many who came through the program. In addition, she was a founder of the SEFTY camp in Cleveland, GA and enjoyed a long career at Bauder Fashion College in Atlanta.
Graveside services will be held Sunday, June 5, 2011 at 2:30PM at Crestlawn Memorial Park, with Rabbi Peter S. Berg officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimers Foundation of America or to The Weinstein Hospice.
