On August 31, 2019 Jayne Ann Etchison Bass Stirling went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Born on September 22, 1932 in St. Petersburg, FL to Edmund Charles and Lillian Lois Shrout Etchison, she graduated from Florida State University in 1953 and moved to Atlanta to become a buyer for Davison's, now known as Macys. While in Atlanta she met and married Charles Gregory Bass Sr. (Sonny) in March of 1956. It was at this time that Jayne focused on her love for children and taught kindergarten for many years at several schools in the area. Upon leaving teaching, she worked as office manager for Johnson Insurance Agency until her retirement in 2002.

Sonny and Jayne were members of North Avenue Presbyterian Church (NAPC) for over 60 years. The NAPC family was very important to Jayne and during her six decades at NAPC she made life-long friends and used the many gifts God gave her to become a Deacon of the Church, treasurer of the Tri-Mu Bible Class, Choir Director of the Cherub Choir, and sing in the Adult Choir.

She was proceeded in death by Charles Gregory Bass Sr. in 1983, and in January of 1997 Jayne married Adam Stirling. Adam also proceeded her in death in October of 2014. Jayne and Sonny had four children: Sandra Jayne Bass Melow (Ray), Charles Gregory Bass, Jr. (Gabriela), Laura Elizabeth Bass Laffoon (Jay), and Thomas Edmund Bass. She was also "Nana" to 10 grand children: Lisa Francis Cook (Jenn), Andrea Melow (Chris), Ryan Melow (Stacy), Matthew Melow, Michelle Bass (Craig), Charles Gregory Bass III (Danielle), Torrey James Laffoon (Shana), Grace Elizabeth Laffoon, Megan Bass, and Charlie Bass. Nana also had 5 great-grandchildren: Allison, Bryce, Adalynn, Hunter, and Lukas

There will be a Memorial service to celebrate Jayne's life at North Avenue Presbyterian Church (607 Peachtree Street NE, Atlanta, GA 30308) on Oct. 11th at 1pm. There will also be a graveside service on Saturday, Oct. 12th, at 11am at Resthaven Gardens (2284 Candler Rd. Decatur, GA 30032).

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Music Fund at North Avenue Presbyterian Church.
