Jean Barnett Upchurch

Jean Barnett Upchurch, age 79, of Norcross, GA, passed away on January 30, 2018. She was a member of Smokerise Baptist Church in Stone Mountain, GA. She was very active in her Sunday School class and the Prime-Timers. She graduated from Forsyth County High School in 1956 and loved the Georgia Bulldogs. Jean worked in the Insurance Industry for more than 50 years, was highly respected by her peers and was loved by all her clients. She was preceded in death by her 1st husband, James White; 2nd husband, Henry Upchurch; parents, Comer Lee and Ruth Barnett; brothers, George and Gerald Barnett.

Mrs. Upchurch is survived by her children, Jami L. (Kenneth) Butler of Thomasville, Lauri (Alice) White of Decatur; sisters and brother-in-law, Nida (Harold) Poole of Cumming, and Carole Arrington of Alabama; grandchildren, Lauren, Matthew and Savannah Butler, and James and Molly White; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, February 2, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at Smokerise Baptist Church in Stone Mountain, GA, with Rev. Ernie Forrester officiating. Graveside services will be held Friday, February 2, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens in Cumming, GA, with Dr. Bob Jolly officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
