Jerrold Mandel, (92), of Cumming, Georgia, lost his battle with Alzheimer's disease and passed away on October 20th, surrounded by his family.
Jerrold, fondly known as Jerry, was born to Leo and Rebecca Mandel, on December 14, 1930, in Brooklyn, NY. He was a talented singer, guitar player, and artist and attended City College of NY, where he earned his Bachelors of Business Administration in Advertising. He also served in the Army, during the Korean War. After graduating from College, Jerry held various positions as Vice President of Marketing & Advertising as well as Art Director. He enjoyed spending his free time playing tennis and being with his family and friends. He and his wife bought a house in Lake Grove, NY, where they raised their two children, until retiring to Florida in 1999.
Jerry is survived by his wife Barbara, his two children Melanie and Brian (and their spouses Billy & Jacqueline), and his 5 grandchildren Corey, Ashleigh, Kassidy, Lili and Brendan.
Aside from his love for music, Jerry was passionate about giving back. He volunteered at various Nursing Homes, where he played the guitar and sang for the residents. He performed at many community activities and clubs at the Cascades, in Boynton Beach Florida, where he and his wife Barbara enjoyed their retirement. Jerry positively impacted everyone who knew him, and he will be truly missed.
Jerry's family will host a funeral service on Wednesday, October 25th, at 10:00 a.m. at Ingram Funeral Home at 210 Ingram Avenue, Cumming GA 30040. The burial service will be at The Georgia National Veterans Cemetery, in Canton Georgia. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Alzheimer's Association in Jerry's name at act.alz.org/donate.
