Jim Burton

Jim Burton, age 83, of Eatonton passed away Sunday, May 2015 in Suwanee, GA. A native of Huntington, NY, Jim was a U.S. Army veteran, serving as a Paratrooper in the Korean War. Jim was a long-time volunteer Emergency Medical Technician and Firefighter in the Emergency Squad in Canandaigua, NY Fire Department and later with the Putman County Fire Department. He loved his animals and was instrumental in starting Humane Societies in both Greene and Putman Counties. Jim is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Terri Burton. Survivors include his children, Dawn M. Bruun of Phelps, NY, Michael James Burton and his wife, Andrea of Herndon, VA, Brenda Megel and her husband Michael of Suwanee, GA; grandchildren, Jaden M.J. Bruuning, Jenna May Meyn, Thomas F. Wheeler, Nicole Center, Nadine Lee-McDearis, Nicholas Burton and 2 great grandchildren. A private family service will be held.
