Mrs. Joanne (Jo) Acker, age 83, of Cumming passed away Sunday, February 24, 2013. A native of Evansville, IN. Mrs. Acker had lived in Cumming for the past 3 years, moving here from Port St. Lucie, FL. She was a member the Lanier Bridge Club, the Forsyth Bridge Club, the Forsyth Senior Center and was a regular golfer at the Lanier Golf Club, Mrs. Acker is preceded in death by her husband, Larry Acker, a daughter, Judy Acker, and two granddaughters, Tiffany Vaughn and Lola Acker. Survivors include her children, Sue Vaughn, Cindy Acker and Mike Acker and his wife, Louise; a sister, Jeanne Bump; 4 grandchildren, Alan Vaughn and his wife Heather, Danielle Coulter and her husband, Russ, Matthew Acker and his wife, Mona and Katie Oakes and her husband, Stewart; and 3 great grandchildren, Cameron Acker, Brayden Vaughn and Connor Oakes. A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, March 1, at 10:30 a.m. at Good Shepherd Catholic Church with Father Frank Richardson officiating. A luncheon will be held following the Mass at the church. Interment will be Monday, March 4, at 9:15 a.m. at the South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth, FL. The family will receive friends at Ingram Funeral Home on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Childrens Hospital or to The Place of Forsyth County, Inc. for their food program.
