Joe (Bug) Echols

Joe (Bug) Echols, 78, a lifelong resident of Cumming passed away Thursday, November 7, 2024. Joe was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Vietnam and was an electrician by trade. Known as a “fix-it” man, he was loyal to his friends, helping everyone and enjoyed fishing and camping. Joe coached baseball over the years and served as a Scoutmaster for Cub Scouts. He is preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Hyde Echols; parents, Earley and Ruth Bell Pruitt Echols; a brother, Nelson Echols; and a sister, Sue Echols.

Survivors include his children, Karen (Bill Harris) Echols, Jody and Danielle Echols; granddaughter, Faith Echols; sisters, Ann Gunsallus and Joan and Jerry Simonds.

Funeral services will be held Monday, November 11, at 11:00 a.m. at the Ingram Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Johnny Purcell and Rev. Jerry Orr officiating. Interment will follow at Sawnee View Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 12:00 to 5:00 p.m. and Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.

 In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
