John Q. Hall Jr., age 79, of Cumming, GA passed away on Monday, January 18, 2021. John was a long-time resident of Forsyth County. Born and raised in Eastpoint Atlanta, he moved to Cumming to raise his young family. John was a strong Christian man; he was very active with First Baptist Church serving as a Sunday school teacher and deacon. He enjoyed serving in Tres Dias Christian movement for more than thirty years. Later John enjoyed his many friends at Freedom Tabernacle.
John was a proud Navy veteran, serving in the US Navy from 1959 to 1962 as a communications specialist. After his honorable discharge from the Navy, he began his long career with Southern Bell, later Bell South, officially retiring in 1995. John continued to work part time in pest control and later with Lakeside Pharmacy as a driver. He loved to meet people and help them in any way he could.
John was an avid basketball player, playing all the way into his 60's before trading in his high-tops for some walking shoes. He enjoyed hiking and walking in many of the Forsyth County parks.
John is preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Diane Hight Hall and his oldest daughter Tammy Hall.
John is survived by his daughter and son in law, Cheryl Hall Wright and Colonel Joshua Wright (Cumming); grandchildren Mitchell, Sydney Grace and Hannah Wright and Tristan Sheffield; his niece and nephew Lisa Burnette (Savannah), Tommy Burnette (London, UK), JP and Kelli Bell (Hiram) and many other loving relatives and friends.
Due to the ongoing pandemic, the family will not hold a memorial service at this time.
Ingram Funeral Home & Crematory, 210 Ingram Avenue, Cumming, Georgia 30040, is in charge of arrangements.
