John C. Gravitt, 70, passed away on the morning of June 23, 2011 at Northside-Forsyth Hospital with lung cancer. He was born on January 15, 1941 to Clint and Melba Gravitt. He was in the United States Air Force for four years. He worked for S. P. Richards for over 30 years. He was a member of Concord Baptist Church and the Jimmy Moore Sunday School class which he enjoyed attending when he was well. He was preceded in death by his father, Clint Gravitt; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Buell and Edith Mae Cain Martin; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Earl W. and Mary Ruth Martin and Charles Buck Martin and Bonnie Thomas. John was always willing to help out when his family or Dianes family needed help. The Martins will always remember him for how much he helped when Charles Buck Martin was dying with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Diane Martin Gravitt of Cumming; son and daughter-in-law, John C. Gravitt, Jr. and Gina of Round Rock, Texas; two grandchildren, Savannah Gravitt and Clint Gravitt of Round Rock, Texas; mother, Melba Dooley Gravitt of Cumming; sisters and brothers-in-law, Louella and Jimmy Hulsey of Cumming, Othella and Eugene Woodall of LaGrange; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Mary Alice Thomas, Rev. Robert and Shirley Martin, Donald and Vivian Martin, Zeliah S. Martin, all of Cumming; a number of nieces and nephews and other relatives also survive. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 25th at 2:00 P.M. at Ingram Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jimmy Orr, Dr. Lester Cooper and Rev. Danny Bennett. Interment will follow in Sawnee View Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Ingram Funeral Home on Thursday from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm, Friday from 9:00 am until 9:00 pm and Saturday from 9:00 am until hour of service.
