John Michael Howie

John Michael Howie (Mike), age 67, of Cumming, GA, passed away quietly at home surrounded by family on January 19, 2011. He was the son of the late R. J. and Mary Howie of Hamlet, NC. Mike was a graduate of UNC Chapel Hill, NC. He retired as Director of Terminal Operations after 33 years of service with Norfolk Southern. He is survived by his wife, Shelia; daughters, Jennifer Grainger, Jessica Howie; son, John M. Howie II; three grandsons, Tyler, Michael, and Nicholas Grainger; one granddaughter, Cari Howie; sisters, Tricia Burnett, Ginny Copeland and Kelly Howell. Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 22nd at 1:00 pm at First Christian Church with Rev. Stan Percival officiating. The family will receive friends at First Christian Church on Saturday from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Christian Church of Cumming, 1270 Sawnee Drive, Cumming, GA 30040. Ingram Funeral Home Crematory, Cumming, Georgia is in charge of arrangements.
