John Stephen Marley

John Stephen (aka Dad, Papa, Pappy, Steve) Marley took his mortal leave of this revolving piece of rock on March 14, 2019. As stubbornly as he lived his life (its a Marley thing) he held on to hope for health and more days with his family. He fought cancer as hard as he fought being pushed for a straight answer to any question.

Though he enjoyed fishing the lakes of Indiana where he was born to parents Raymond A. and Ruth E., he spent the majority of his life doing the work he loved in cities throughout the world where he contributed as an expert in his field. John is survived by his wife, Judy; children, Amie (Jason) Turney, Elizabeth Marley, Emily (Jason Morgan) Marley and Abigail Marley; grandchildren, Ella Turney and Benjamin Morgan; brother, Jim (Carol) Marley; sister-in-law, Paulette Marley, brother-in-law Xikang Zhu, step-mother Barbara Marley, many nieces and nephews, and Harvey. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Theodore Marley and Joseph Marley.

He will be warmly remembered as a loving husband and father, distinguished engineer, a great thinker who quoted Einstein as easily as scripture, a man who was generous beyond measure to family, friends and strangers alike and a grower of lovely things.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 23, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at Ingram Funeral Home.

Ingram Funeral Home Crematory, 210 Ingram Ave, Cumming, GA 30040 is in charge of arrangements.
