Johnie Edwin Mathis

Johnie Edwin Mathis, age 76 of Cumming, passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2016. He was a retired Master Sergeant serving in the United States Air Force with 23 years of service. Johnie worked for Tyson Foods for 11 years, Auto Zone for 10 years and Advanced Auto Parts. He was an avid fisherman and never met a stranger. He was a devoted husband, father, brother and grandfather and is rejoicing in heaven saved by the grace of God. We will miss your loving smile and kindness to everyone. He was preceded in death by his step-daughter, Melisa Moon. Survivors include his wife, Joy Housley Mathis; children, Erin Woolerton, Chris Mathis, Patrick Mathis and Spouse Carla; 4 step children; 7 brothers and sisters; and several loving nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive. Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 15th at 4:00 pm at Ingram Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplin Neil Horner officiating. Interment will follow at The Georgia National Cemetery in Canton on Monday May 16th at 10:00 am.. The family will receive friends at Ingram Funeral Home on Sunday from 2:00 pm until hour of service.
