Johnnie Lou Burger Amos

Johnnie Lou Burger Amos passed on to be with the lord on Wednesday, April 19, 2023. She is preceded in death by her parents, Chessie and Tilman “Ras” Burger, her brothers, Ralph Burger and Ernest Burger, sisters, Margie Hyder and Judy Anderson, and husband, J.W. Amos.

Born and raised in Roswell, GA, Johnnie moved to Cumming, GA with her husband where they raised their four boys. Upon retiring from a long career culminating at Lucent Technologies, she and her husband moved to the mountains of Murphy, NC where she lived for 20 years.

Johnnie’s greatest joy in life was her family and the time she got to spend with them. When she wasn’t in the kitchen making her famous biscuits and pound cake, she could be found walking in the woods with her dogs hunting for arrowheads or tending to her garden. She was a mother and granny to all that knew her and will be missed dearly.

Johnnie is survived by her four sons, Ralph “Pete”, Johnny (Holli), Bobby, and Billy (Jeannie) Amos, her eight grandchildren, Slate (Brittany), Jarrod, Ryan (Alissa), Allison, Jordan, Taylor, Madalyn, and Trevor Amos, six great-grandchildren, her brothers J.D. (Louis) Burger, Franklin “Piper” Burger and many nieces and nephews. 

The family would also like to thank the many individuals that took such good care of her during her stay at The Oaks at Post Rd. Each of you were truly a blessing.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 22, 2023 at 11:00 AM, in the chapel of Ingram Funeral Home in Cumming, GA. Interment will follow at Green Lawn Cemetery in Roswell, GA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service.
