Johnny Clayton Mathis, age 57, of Cumming, passed away on Friday, January 15, 2016. Johnny was born in Forsyth County on June 6, 1958 to the late Clayton and Eva Grace Mathis. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Johnny will be missed dearly. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by one brother and three sisters. He is survived by his wife, Shelia Mathis of Cumming; children, Jeffery Chitwood of Dawsonville, Jason Chitwood of Dawsonville, and Ann Benfield of Clarksville; grandchildren, Harleigh and Chloey Chitwood, both of Ball Ground, Tanner and Makayla Benfield, both of Clarksville; sisters, Mary Mathis of Buford, and Annie Mills of Cumming; along with other friends and relatives. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 20, at 2:00 p.m. at the Ingram Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerry Cantrell and Rev. Ruel Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Sawnee View Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service.
