Johnny M. Eubanks, of Dawsonville, Georgia passed away at his home on May 10, 2023 following an extended illness. Johnny was born in Cumming, GA on August 15, 1957. He was a member of Daves Creek Baptist Church. Johnny was gifted with mechanical skills and held positions in companies such as Scientific Atlanta and Volvo. He also oversaw maintenance services at a large retirement community before launching his own company, Master Heating and Air, in Gainesville, Georgia.
But to most people in the local area, Johnny was best known as a devoted and caring pastor. He began his pastoral career at Brandywine Baptist Church in south Forsyth County. He later pastored a number of other Baptist churches in the north Georgia area, including Pleasant Union (Dawsonville), Ophir (Ball Ground), Pleasant Hill (Alpharetta), and Pleasant Valley (Suches). All this time, Johnny was assisted and supported by his wife, Cynthia, whom he married in 1976. Together, they brought a smile to the churches and communities they served and were there to support them both emotionally and spiritually.
Only heaven will tell the number of individuals who came to faith in Christ under Johnny’s preaching. His passion was to see people brought to salvation, delivered from bondage, and enjoying their best life in this world as they awaited even greater blessings in eternity.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, Marcus and Doris Eubanks, of Cumming, Georgia. He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Eubanks, of Dawsonville, Georgia, as well as his daughter, Andrea (Joseph) Shelnutt, and his two grandsons, Owen and Jonah Shelnutt, all of Fort Hood, Texas. Other survivors include a sister, Sheila (Chuck) Thompson; niece, Hannah Thompson; nephew, Ethan Thompson all of Cumming, and nephew, Nathaniel (Cheri) and great nephew, Charlie Thompson of Gainesville. Also surviving are four sisters-in-law, Linda (David) Clute, Brenda Carlile, Diane Cook, and Sandra (Russell) Mildner; as well as numerous other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Ingram Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Dusty Holtzclaw, Rev. Allen Swafford, Rev. Larry Eubanks and Rev. Ronald Pruitt officiating. Internment will be in Sawnee View Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 12 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm and from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm and again on Saturday, May 13 from 10:00 am to the time of service.
