Jon Warner Lipps passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on February 23, 2024, following an accumulation of illnesses. Jon was born on October 31, 1942, to Fred B. and Mary Louise Lipps in Parkersburg, WV. Growing up in the mountains, Jon was raised primarily by his grandmother, Bess Young. He developed a love for both hunting and fishing at an early age. Attending Stonewall Jackson High School in Charleston, WV, he met his high-school sweetheart and love of his life, Ruth Ellen Jarrett. They married on June 15, 1962.
Jon and Ruth Ellen built an early life in Winfield, WV, welcoming their children Jon II and Jennifer into the world. His pharmaceutical sales career started there, and eventually took Jon and his family to Cottage Grove, MN, then McMurray, PA and back to West Virginia. While in Minnesota, he graduated from Winona State University in Minnesota with a degree in Business.
Traveling with Ruth Ellen became an important part of their lives together. They visited Hawaii, Ireland and Italy together, in addition to multiple trips to Orlando, annual winter-month camping stays on the gulf coast of Florida, several cruises, and annual trips to Myrtle Beach with their entire family.
Jon was a US Army veteran and was active with both The Masonic Lodge and the Shriners throughout his life. Professionally, he spent the majority of his career as a Senior Sales Manager for GSK Pharmaceuticals (formerly Smith Kline and French), retiring in 2001 and moving to Georgia in 2007.
Jon joins in Heaven his parents, his beloved grandmother, and other family members.
Jon is survived by his loving wife Ruth Ellen, his son Jon Lipps II (wife Kathleen, grandchildren Hannah and Savana), and his daughter Jennifer Butler (husband John, grandchildren Sydney and Molly).
Visitation will be held at the Ingram Funeral Home (Cumming, GA) on Saturday, March 1, 2025, from 2 to 4 PM, followed by a memorial service in the chapel on site at 4 PM.
