Joseph William Goode III

Joseph William Goode III of Alpharetta, GA passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2020 at the age of 66. He was happily married to his wife of 49 years, Shearer Goode. They have three married sons and 10 grandchildren. Joe was a long-time member and deacon at First Baptist Church, Duluth, GA and more recently attended First Baptist Church, Atlanta, GA. He was the founder and owner of NextGen Avionics and LogiCircuit. He was a pioneer of avionic electronics, holding nine patents for cockpit displays which have been used in many military aircraft, including the C-130, Apache Helicopter, and more recently the F-35 JSF. Joe was an avid golfer and enjoyed in particular playing with his sons and grandchildren. He loved traveling and vacationing with his family; among his favorite places to visit were Hilton Head Island, Disney, and Hawaii. While with his family, he also treasured playing board games and card games, riding bikes and goofing off with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph William Goode II and Pearl Goode of Neon, KY and brother-in-law Thomas Urban Urbanic of Bath, OH. He is survived by his wife, Shearer Kay Goode, his sister, Adrienne Lee Urbanic, his sons, Joe Goode IV husband of Laura, David Goode husband of Jennifer, and Andrew Goode husband of Charissa, and 10 grandchildren: Jace, Kellan, Reece, Weston, Carolyn, Mollie, Elizabeth, Luke, Piper, and Rebecca.

A family visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 20th at First Baptist Church, Cumming, GA from 5 pm to 6:30 pm and 7 pm to 8:30 pm. A private graveside service will be held at Sawnee View Gardens on Wednesday, October 21st at 10:18 am.
