Joyce Griffie Ross

JOYCE GRIFFIE ROSS, 76, of Alpharetta, Georgia, passed away on February 3rd, 2011.

She began her career at the Birmingham News as a copywriter, was traffic department manager at WAPI-TV, became Director of Media at Steiner-Bressler Advertising and was appointed General Sales Manager at WBMG-TV, the first woman in a top fifty market. Joyce later opened J. Ross & Associates Advertising in Savannah, Ga. and later moved her company to Atlanta. Joyce served as president of American Women in Radio and Television, local chapter.

She is survived by her loving husband, Allen, married 41 years; one brother, Gary Griffie, Birmingham, two sisters, Jean Thomas, Chattanooga, TN and Linda Schrum, Hendersonville, TN; three sons, Mike Harden, Birmingham, Trett Ross, Orlando,FL and Kenny Ross, Villa Rica, GA. She had seven grandchildren.

Services will be held at Ridouts Valley Chapel, Homewood, AL, 1800 Oxmoor Rd (205-879-3401) on Sunday February 6th, 2010. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to the Ovarian Cancer Institute, 960 Johnston Ferry Rd, Atlanta, GA 30342
